Check out this study conducted by Consumer Reports in the May 2013 Edition, “How accurate are chain restaurant calorie counts?” There is a very nice chart which lists the findings from Consumer Reports with respect to several restaurants.
The study brings out some interesting information about how some calorie counts were not accurately reported for different reasons. The good news is that most of the information is correct and was validated by the Consumer Reports Study.
The one takeaway I received from this report was the fact that so much emphasis is given to the specific calorie and fat values, but not very much emphasis is made with respect to portion size. Portion size, to me is still the root cause of this issue of eating healthy.
