A number of growers are looking closely at data and are finding that some soil report information may not be accurate because of the way the sample was taken. A good, representative sample from a known depth is really the key. In some cases, samplers may be inadvertently capturing more soil at from the surface as a part of their overall composite sample.
At Midwest Laboratories, we have found that even with the 2012 drought conditions most of our clients continue to sample at the same time each year to keep a good record of the soils nutrition. I really like how the video emphasizes taking 15 – 25 cores to make a good composite service.
