Visionary & Founder of Midwest Laboratories

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kennard E. Pohlman on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Ken founded Midwest Laboratories on May 15th, 1975, and led the company for 45 years. His leadership grew the laboratory from Agricultural soil analysis to also include Animal Nutrition, Foods, Microbiological, Environmental, and Fuels testing services. He was a pioneer in the agricultural lab & agronomy space and leaves behind a legacy of innovation and dedication to our people and dynamic service to our clients. Ken will be deeply missed by the entire Midwest Laboratories team, our customers, and our community.
Ken was a leader in agronomy, contributing his time and expertise to the Agronomy Handbook, 4H, FFA, NE Leads program, Nebraska Agricultural Leadership Council and the Nebraska Agribusiness community. Ken was elected to the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement in 2016 and will continue to be remembered for his years of service, philanthropic contributions, commitment to education, and our people. Ken was an astute leader, and advocate for the Agriculture Industry, and inspiration to our teams. His leadership, support, and dedication to Midwest Laboratories' success will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with the entire Pohlman family during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th from 5-7PM at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 96th & Q street. Followed by a Wake Service at 7PM, led by Fr. Matthew Pohlman.
